Find a Doctor in Your Area

ZocDoc

Use this Android or iOS app, or their website, to find a doctor near you that is in your network. Read patient reviews, see availability and book an appointment. ZocDoc keeps a list of past and future appointments and a list of doctors you have seen, or are scheduled to see.

 

Find Emergency Rooms

findERnow

This app, developed by Massachusetts General Hospital, allows you to find Emergency Rooms in your area, which is great if you are away from home or traveling.  You can see ERs in your area and tap on one to get directions. It is available for Android and iOS.

 

Find Medical Care While Traveling

mPassport

This app by HTH Worldwide is available for Android, iOS and Kindle. Use this app to find “carefully selected” doctors, hospitals, dentists and pharmacies in over 180 countries. Find detailed profiles, make appointments and get directions. All doctors in the program speak English, but their support staff may not. The app provides translations in 13 languages for hundreds of key medical terms and phrases, as well as translated information on brand-name and generic medications. The service is free for anyone who has HTH Travel Insurance; otherwise there is an annual fee of $34.95 (subscribe at mPassport.com).

 

General Healthcare Information

WebMD

This app by WebMD, available for Android or iOS, provides information on a variety of topics: ‘Symptom Checker’ lets you look up your symptoms to see possible causes; ‘Conditions’ provides information on symptoms, causes and treatments for hundreds of conditions; ‘Pill Identifier’ helps you identify any unknown pills you have by searching by pill shape and color and providing a list of possible medications; and ‘Directory’ lets you search for doctors, hospitals and pharmacies by zip code. You can join an online Community to interact with others sharing your medical condition. The app also has a simple medication reminder.

 

Medication Management and Reminders

CareZone

This app is available for iOS and Android. This app allows you to order through their CareZone Pharmacy, to receive your medications in pre-packaged by time of day, with all medications for a given time packaged together with the time and date clearly stamped on the clear packaging, making it very easy to remember what medications to take throughout the day.

Mango Health

This app is available for iOS and Android.  This app has a rewards program to encourage users to be compliant with medication regimens and other health goals. Information on side effects, potential interactions and usage is provided for each medication on your list.

Medisafe Pill Reminder and Medication Tracker

This app is available for iOS and Android. Unique qualities of this app includes the ability for patients and caregivers to connect through Cloud synchronization, check for harmful drug interactions, and import medication lists from select pharmacies.

MedCoach

With this free app from GreatCall, you manually enter each medications, including instructions on when and how to take each medication.  You mark each medication as it is taken, allowing the App to compile a history of medication use.  You can keep track of doctors and pharmacies.  Use the PIN for privacy.

Pill Reminder

This app is only available for iOS. The unique quality of this app is the flexibility in the alarm function, allowing you to choose one of over 30 tones (including silent), which vary in length from 1 to 11 seconds. You can also choose to set snooze reminders.

RxMindMe

With this free App from Walgreens, you manually enter each medication, including instructions on when and how to take each medication.  You can take a photo of the medication to be sure you are taking the correct medication.  The app sends reminders each time a medication is due.  You can also set up a reorder alert for when a prescription needs to be refilled.
